Act tough

It's a blessing and curse, but mostly a blessing unappreciated by those who don't understand it. Somehow, when you become tough, tough becomes you; it's a two way street of insecurities, questioning and adrenaline rushes that refuse to grant your body its much needed slumber.
Entering the realm of truth, a sigh of relief is emitted as the cool air slaps your face, reassuring you that you're on the right path.
A question is asked "Are you ready?" and the answer is something of great motivational skills; an inspirational response that gets your blood pumping even more, while optimism shines in your eyes. A pat on the shoulder is offered, but instead of reassuring you, it repulses you and offers nothing other than annoyance. A compliment that may have pleased most results in making you feel the weight of your responsibility, the power of your existence and the tranquility of results.
Realizing the most powerful and yet simple elements of humanity makes you wonder why you haven't known this before.
Steps of confidence echos through the empty dimmed streets, while a whirlpool of thoughts and emotions echos through you, resounding in your own vacuum.

Do you remember Alana of Trebond? The one from the series of adventures by Tamora Pierce? You two have A LOT in common!

Hang in there! You are the real thing! :)
