Hip hop and rap

During the last 17 years, new genres were introduced to the music industry and they had quite the success in the new world, part of these genres were hip hop and rap. The genres were more popular with the young generation because it expressed the frustration and anger of this age group in a way to which they could relate.
While I understand all of that and some of the beat is not that bad, but many of the lyrics are offensive to women (and men if you're a bit educated), for example "I've got a flock of women and I'm feeling myself..." and then he continues about having a lot of money and a lot of other things and how he is so smug about that. Are we teaching kids to be materialistic?

I'm just amazed that people are so quick in dismissing genres such as jazz and blues and ready to accept something that disfigure our relationships as humans.
Of course there are other songs that talk about the injustice of society and the ridiculing of the weak and so forth, but most of the time I can't even understand what's said, so how can I appreciate it?

I just think that we did so much better in music during the fifties in comparison to the current situation.
